In Scena! – Italian for On stage! – aims to create an annual celebration of Italian theater, ‘made in Italy’ as well as ‘made in the United States.’

The Festival is organized by KIT, the preeminent Italian theater company in New York City. It is ultimately seeking to become a 365-day-a-year platform for Italian theater companies and theater artists working in the Tri-State Area and for Italians based in Italy who are performing in such area. The Festival’s first edition will be presented in all five NYC boroughs. Performances will be offered both indoors and outdoors, in auditoriums, theaters, parks, libraries, among other locations.

The theme of this first edition will be the journey: the bridge between New York City and Italy, the ethnic melting pot, and the way inhabitants of a country see “the other.”

The 2013 edition starts on Monday June 10th, 2013. Pre-festival events will be hold on June 8th and 9th. Opening Night on June 11th. During 7/10 days, preeminent theater companies and artists coming from Italy + Italian companies and Italian artists based in New York City will present their works.

Each day will be dedicated to a different borough, with the exception of Manhattan, which will act as an ongoing link among the boroughs. Each evening, one reading and one full-production show will be presented, with a long intermission in between. One special event will end the Festival.
