The concept of 2013 as a showcase of Italian culture and what it means to the American public is an ideal opportunity to promote Italy as a whole in both the cultural thematic and the economic features of the Italian Brand.
The initiative also envisions calling on coming generations with a series of events focused on new Italian talent that, alongside the legacy of our Masters, represent the Italy of the future and its excellences. (from the 2013 year of the Italian Culture website: italyintheus.org)

It is ultimately seeking to become a 365-day-a-year platform for Italian theater companies and theater artists working in the Tri-State Area and for Italians based in Italy who are performing in such area. The Festival’s first edition will be presented in all five NYC boroughs. Performances will be offered both indoors and outdoors, in auditoriums, theaters, parks, libraries, among other locations.
The theme of this first edition will be the journey: the bridge between New York City and Italy, the ethnic melting pot, and the way inhabitants of a country see “the other.”
The 2013 edition starts on Monday June 10th, 2013. Pre-festival events will be hold on June 8th and 9th. Opening Night on June 11th. During 7/10 days, preeminent theater companies and artists coming from Italy + Italian companies and Italian artists based in New York City will present their works.
